Hinduism is one of the oldest living religions. Hinduism has many different movements and in Sweden there are about 5,000 followers. There are about 900 million followers world-wide, the majority of them in India.

Hinduism is both a religion and a social system as one is born into a caste. How people live their lives are important as it effects reincarnation.

All adult Hindus shall be cremated. After cremation the ashes shall be spread in the river Ganges or over other running water.

  • Always cremation
  • Relatives want to be present for the cremation
  • The coffin is often transported to the home
  • Sometimes objects are placed in the coffin
  • Ashes in the river Ganges
